Wedding cake - the pictures

I received the official pictures of the wedding cake I made a few weeks ago. Doesn't look too bad, does it?

  2. Unfortunately my "talents" don't quite stretch to chocolate printing blocks.

The block belong to the bride who was a little apprehensive about getting icing on her antique blocks (I think they're over 100 years old). We had devised a cunning support strategy but in the end the cake got put in the fridge at the venue which set the icing solid so the blocks just went straight on.

  3. Never mind not looking too bad, it looks magnificent. I've managed to steer clear of decorating the edges of cakes so far as it seems way to faffy. But it does look good, so guess I'm just going to have to toughen up and give it a try one day.

  4. Initially we were going to use grated chocolate for the sides but the curls make a whole world of difference. So much easier to use.

Although I do agree that the whole process is massively faff-full, the end result just about justifies it.

Thing is I'm trying to work out what to do with the massive bag of curls that were left over...
